The Welcome Checklist is a global onboarding feature in your Mighty Network that helps new members explore key actions and content when they first join. It’s a simple, customizable way to guide members through their first steps and ensure they understand your community’s purpose and features. The Welcome Checklist appears as a flyout on the right side of the screen for all full members with Network access. It’s available on both desktop and mobile, and progress syncs automatically across devices. Note: The Welcome Checklist is only available to full members with Network access. Limited members do not have access.

Why Use the Welcome Checklist

The Welcome Checklist helps you:
  • Onboard new members quickly and consistently.
  • Direct people to important posts, Spaces, or events.
  • Encourage engagement with default actions like commenting or reacting.
  • Track which members have completed key onboarding steps.

How to Set Up the Welcome Checklist

  1. Go to Admin > Setup > Member Welcome Checklist.
  2. Customize your Checklist:
    • Rearrange items using the three-line menu.
    • Add content such as Articles, Posts, Spaces, Events, Lessons, or Sections.
  3. Add Mighty Suggestions (defaults include):
    • Fill Out Your Profile
    • Adjust Your Notifications
    • Download the App
    • React to Something
    • Add a Comment
    • Start a Chat
    • Invite Someone to the Network
    • Follow a Member in the Network
    • RSVP to an Event
    • Introduce Yourself
  4. Add Custom Actions:
    • You can include actions tied to specific Spaces.
    • The Space’s visibility must be set to Who Can See This Space? → Anyone in the Network for members to access it.
  5. Write a Welcome Article (optional):
    • A Welcome Article is a great way to introduce your community’s purpose, values, and key features.

  6. Preview Your Checklist:
    • Available on web only, this allows you to see what members will experience.
  7. Disable the Checklist:
    • Turn the feature off anytime from the same setup menu.

Important Notes

Flyout Visibility

  • Once a member completes the Welcome Checklist, the flyout disappears permanently.
  • If you want members who have completed the Checklist to see new items, enable the Welcome Checklist in Global Discovery settings.

New Content for Incomplete Checklists

  • If a member hasn’t finished their Checklist, any new items you add will automatically appear in their flyout.

Tracking Progress

  • When you download your Member List, you’ll see which members have completed the Welcome Checklist.

Member Experience

For Members Who Have Completed the Checklist:
  • The flyout disappears once all items are finished.
  • New Checklist content remains visible in the Global Discovery section if it’s toggled on.
For Members Still Working on the Checklist:
  • Any new items you add appear automatically, ensuring their Checklist stays current.

Tips for Creating an Effective Welcome Checklist

  • Keep it short: Focus on the five to seven most important actions for new members.
  • Mix content types: Include a variety of items—Spaces, posts, events—to showcase what your Network offers.
  • Include quick wins: Early tasks like “React to a Post” or “Follow a Member” help members feel immediately connected.
  • Revisit regularly: Update your Checklist as your Network grows or changes focus.

Automations

On the Business plan and up, we have a trigger for “Completed Welcome Checklist”. This means, you can set up an Automation that completes an action (ie: assigning a badge, sending a welcome message) whenever a new member completes the checklist. To learn more, check out this article.
