Mighty Networks does not have full language localization, meaning some defaults aren’t available in languages other than English. However, many non-English and even multilingual Mighty Networks have leveraged the ability to customize their communities in fantastic ways!

What You Can Customize

You can rename the following in any language:
  • Your Network name
  • Collections
  • Spaces
  • Features within Spaces

Example: Creating a Spanish Network

For a Spanish-language network, you might use terms like:
  • Talleres (instead of Workshops)
  • Chat Comunal (instead of Community Chat)
  • Grupos Cercanos (instead of Local Groups)
  • Miembros (instead of Members)
This customization gets you about 85% of the way to full localization.

Addressing Default Terms

For default terms that cannot be customized (like “Personal Settings”), you have options:

1. Welcome Video

Create a quick welcome video explaining what default English terms mean in your members’ language. This helps onboard members who may not be familiar with English.

2. Google Translate Extension

Show members how to use the Google Translate browser extension to automatically translate any default text in a Mighty Network to hundreds of different languages.

Best Practices for Non-English Networks

  • Customize all customizable elements in your target language
  • Create onboarding materials that explain any English-only defaults
  • Use your network description and welcome content to set language expectations
  • Consider creating help articles or FAQs in your members’ language
  • Build a welcoming committee of multilingual members who can help new members navigate
While not perfect, these customization options allow you to create an engaging, accessible community experience in any language.
