# AutomationRuleActionType

> The action an automation rule performs when it fires. A value whose description
lists configParameters takes those parameters in configParameters, and an ID
parameter it lists takes an integer resource ID or a GlobalID, stored as the
integer. Any other value takes the configParameters its action has always taken,
with IDs as integer resource IDs. The member who triggered the rule is filled in
when it fires and is never sent. New values may be added, so handle a value you
do not recognize.
