# What Kind of Media Can I Upload Into a Course?

You can add several types of content to your Course, including images, videos, media, and file attachments. These can appear in your [**Overview**](https://docs.mightynetworks.com/for-hosts/courses/how-do-i-organize-my-course-with-overviews-sections-and-lessons), [Sections, and Lessons](https://docs.mightynetworks.com/for-hosts/courses/how-do-i-organize-my-course-with-overviews-sections-and-lessons).

## Adding a Primary Image or Video

First, you will add a **hero image or video URL at the top of your content.**

* **Recommended image size:** 2560 x 1440 pixels (16:9 ratio)
* **Supported video platforms:** YouTube, Vimeo, Loom, and more

To delete or change media, select **the media** and use the **trash icon.**

## Formatting Text

Highlight any text in the editor to:

* Add **headers** (five levels available)
* Apply **bold**, *italic*, strikethrough, or underline
* Add **quotes** or change text **color** and **highlight color**
* Insert **hyperlinks**

## Adding Rich Media

To upload media within your Course:

1. Press **Enter** to create a new line.
2. Select the **+** button on the left side of the editor.
3. Choose to add a **photo**, **video**, [**media embed**](https://docs.mightynetworks.com/for-hosts/content-and-messaging/can-i-use-external-embeds), **file attachment**, or **section divider**.

To add a line of text below a media item, hover under it and click the arrow that appears.

## How to Upload a Video

1. Open the **Overview**, a **Section**, or a **Lesson**.
2. Click the **+** icon to open the quick insert toolbar.
3. Select **Video.**
4. Choose your video file. You’ll see a progress bar during upload, and the file will appear greyed out while it processes.
5. Once processing is complete, you can update the preview thumbnail, enable video tracking, and save.

## Video Tracking

Video Tracking allows you to require members to watch an entire video before they can move to the next Lesson. [Learn more](https://docs.mightynetworks.com/for-hosts/courses/how-do-i-track-member-completion-and-progress) about completion features in Courses.

## Upload Limitations

* **Files larger than 250 MB cannot be uploaded.**
  * As a Host, you can decide if you want your members to upload 250MB or keep them at a smaller file upload limit: 25MB. You can make this decision in Admin > Member Settings
* **Videos larger than 4 GB cannot be uploaded.**

## Additional Notes

* • The max video **upload size of 4 GB** applies to: Network Hosts<br />• **The max file upload size of 25 MB** applies to: Network Hosts, Space Hosts or Space moderators.
* **Storage limits:** On newer plans (Explore, Launch, Scale, Growth), course videos count toward your Network's storage limit. Legacy plans with unlimited course videos are not affected by this change.
* Videos cannot be downloaded from a Course.
* Supported file types include **.mp4**, **.mov**, **.m4v**, and many others (full list below).
* You can’t save or close content while a video is uploading. You *can* save during processing and navigate elsewhere in your Mighty Network. You’ll receive a notification when processing finishes.
* You can continue embedding video from other platforms. Previously embedded videos don’t need to be changed unless you prefer to upload them natively.
* Members must watch the entire tracked video to unlock the next Lesson or resource.
* Playback speed controls are available for both natively uploaded videos and YouTube embeds on web and mobile web.
* If a video is paused, it resumes where the member left off—[**Video Tracking must be turned on**](https://docs.mightynetworks.com/for-hosts/courses/how-do-i-track-member-completion-and-progress) for this to work.

## Supported File Types
